Advanced Search Operators in Yahoo Site Explorer

This is not really new but it is really useful and something that many SEOs are unaware of. We all know about Google’s advanced search operators that allow you to refine your search in such a way as to search for links in Google and pages that have been indexed. Yahoo’s Site Explorer offers an easy to use link finder but two search modifiers are available from the Yahoo search bar. These are:

site:

linkdomain:

Used in combination they can be used to create powerful link analysis queries.

linkdomain:seothegame.com -site:seothegame.com

This will create a search for the links that are connected to the domain seothegame.com but then take out the internal links.

linkdomain:seothegame.com site:blogspot.com

Shows the links that are from seothegame.com to any page on the blogspot.com web site. Useful for finding a suspected interlinking of sites.

linkdomain:seothegame.com pagerank algorithm

Show links to the domain seothegame.com that contain the search PageRank or algorithm.

linkdomain:seothegame.com seobook.com

Shows results for pagesĀ  that link to the domain seothegame.com that mention seobook.com.

linkdomain:seothegame.com thread reply forum

Shows the number of links that come from forums or blogs.

Great Advice, This is my personal favourite to check the competitions links through the search engines and research. Using the linkdomain: and site: operators, it’s time consuming but it’s interesting you can learn more around a topic and about your competition as you research. Which if you have the time is ideal. Great Article!
