Excerpt: After the news of Michael Jackson’s untimely death. It has surprised me people are so quick to cash in on the event. Google trends hasn’t quite caught up with this yet looking earlier this morning for Michael Jackson searches there was no spike on the 30-day chart. Tomorrow maybe we will see the spike. However there is already a web-site which has many jokes that are specifically about his death with Adsense advertising in place (http://www.deadmichaeljacksonjokes.com/). I am not a fan of his but it is still quite distasteful. Update. On Monday, 29th, the Google trends dwaft the previous data with is…

Excerpt: Writing a blog is a weighty undertaking and requires constant determination to put fingers to keyboard and find something to say. On the other hand, you need to generate content for your readers otherwise, what is the point. Search engines love to see the new content too. Where’s is the happy medium? I try and write about 15 posts a month, which is roughly a post every other day if I work on it at the weekends. It is also…

These sites will be ranked higher and receive greater exposure giving them more opportunity…

Excerpt: I have long been a fan of the Royal Institutions Christmas Lectures since I was a child and look forward to them every year. They  have been held annually  since 1825, presenting the latest ideas in science and technology to the next generation of scientists and engineers. This year, the lectures were presented by Christopher Bishop, Chief Research Scientist at Microsoft Research, Cambridge and Professor of computer science at Edinburgh University. The subject of the lectures was the computer revolution and how computers have changed our lives. Of particular interest for us SEO people was the forth episode which covers the internet…

Excerpt: Creating links for directories or signing-up for forums or otherwise signing-up for useless stuff on the web often involves sending a valid email address. Unless you know and trust who you’re sending your information to,  you probably don’t want to use your real email address. While you can make fake email accounts, you still have to sign up to create an account and even these get clogged up with junk mail eventually. That is why you need mailinator. Mailinator is an email service where you can send those pesky confirmation emails for verification without having to create an account. Any address at…
