How to build domain trust

March 11th, 2011 by Carl | Filed under Algorithms.

On page elements and inbound links have become less important in recent years when it comes to ranking a site. These factors still play a large part, but their influence is waning. What is picking up the shortfall?

Domain trust is one element. If you have what Google considers to be a trustworthy domain, your pages are likely to rank better across the board. But how do you build domain trust.

There are a few ingredients. The age of your website is one. Stick around for the long haul and you’ll see the benefit. Your link profile is another. Link to bad sites and you’ll lose trust. Social media might also offer a hint as to how well regarded you are in your industry.

As ever, the best advice is simply to run your website well – aim to build a useful resource and your domain will be trusted. Do anything devious or manipulative and you risk that.

Agreed with you, Google always change their Algorithms to get rid of the blog farming. So, the best way to stay around is by following the rules and build our sites to be trusted site and to provide great content.

That is so true …but one of my tips to newbies would be to not buy a personal name domain because it will be harder for you to sell….i learned it the hard way and i changed mine!
