updating a site

It is important  for a website to have lots of new and interesting content on it.
When a user visits your site is essential that their experience of the site is a good one, which means they are likely to come back.
If you do not update a site regularly then why should a visitor return to it? It would be very boring viewing the same information again.
The same can be said for the search engine if they index a site one day and return a few days later and nothing has changed,, there is no reason why the robots would return to index the site again.

It is really important to consider the user when adding information to your site.
